Patricia Overdam
Patricia Overdam (1976) born in Gouda, lives and works in Kedichem.
She views the world from the value she attaches to freedom and autonomy. The common thread in her work is how we live according to rules and frameworks with each other and with the world around us. Coloring outside the lines and looking for new combinations characterizes her work. As a visual artist she is always looking for that deeper layer of awareness and consciousness. By experimenting and letting the work grow organically, the most beautiful creations are created.
To shape her sculptures, Patricia experiments with various materials and glass techniques such as glass blowing, casting, flamework, casting and various cold processes. This combined with other materials (preferably recycled) such as metal and rubber.
Work experience
After my studies at NIMETO, I started working in an advertising studio. Design, dtp, decoration were my daily activities. In 2002 I decided that I had not seen enough of the world yet and I went out with my backpack and traveled around for a year. After which I was able to work as a tour guide in China, Tibet, Nepal and South America. When I got my papers at the sailing school in 2004, I started traveling on the water from Cape Town to Antarctica, and also the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea. When I became the mother of a beautiful daughter in 2011, it was time for a different waterway. I started my own company as a freelancer: Graphic design, window dresser, decorator, visual artist, photographer and skipper. The blood creeps where it can’t go and I kept looking for creative challenges. When I got a dear son in 2015 and had the time to think about it, I made the decision to take up a new challenge. A study glass art and craft at IKA. in Mechelen where I now, 2022, proudly graduate in Higher Degree.
